“Membership in the ‘mutual aid society’ of which Mrs. Eddy spoke”

It is a joy to claim membership in the “mutual aid society” of which Mrs. Eddy spoke. I think back to an incident when I was going through Class: At lunch one day, a fellow classmate started choking and was unable to breathe. He got up and walked away from the table in a fearful state. I went to him with trust in the lessons we had learned that day and with dear love for him as my “brother.” The obstruction came forth and there was a sense of calm. No physical effort was made to remove the obstruction, but like the “east winds,” it could have no effect.

I have been the recipient of that “mutual aid” many times. One friend has been a quiet rock for many years. We correspond throughout the year, and her letters have provided more than she will ever realize. In deep humility and love, her pen-to-paper gifts have brought light when days seemed so dark, joy when there seemed to be none, and healing remembrances from Association addresses that I had forgotten. This validates what you told all of us on several occasions regarding the taking of copious notes, “You will have what you need when you need it.”

I am most profoundly grateful for the immediate healing of my Mom on one Association day, an experience that demonstrates the “banding together” of our members. I cannot even write this without a welling up of gratitude for the healing love of my true Association family.

During the address, my Mom lost consciousness and was having trouble reviving. The unreality of the situation kept all grounded in their seats. There was no rushing toward a material-sense situation, but rather a “rallying” in the acknowledgement of man’s spiritual perfection. The loving approach of one of our Journal-listed practitioners who sat with my Mom for the rest of the day stilled the raging sea of human-sense testimony.

The healing was quick and permanent. We were able to hear to the end of the address, and the rest of the weekend was perfect and harmonious. As a daughter who dearly loves her Mom, I was truly witness to the power of divine Love.
