Seeing God’s natural progress and harmony brings healing

With the focus for this year’s Association on healing (I suppose it always is, but this time oh-so-more-overtly!), I have to share a very fresh healing I’ve just had.

Yesterday morning I awoke with a tight feeling on the left side of my chest. I wrote it off as the result of having slept in a funny position, and went off to the gym for a vigorous “spin” class on the indoor bicycles. I didn’t feel any discomfort during the class or as I got ready for work, but after a few hours at the office the pain in my chest returned, this time sharper and more uncomfortable.

“Surrounded by folks having knee and hip replacements, I knew I had a choice to make”

For decades there were issues with my knees and hip. In my late 20’s, a nurse friend heard my knees make a grinding noise and said they would be shot by the time I was 40. A few years later, a doctor said I had bursitis in my hip. As I moved into my 40’s, 50’s, and early 60’s, just taking a walk with my husband would have me struggling to keep up; afterwards there would be discomfort or pain. Sometimes my hip would feel out of kilter, which made bending over, going up stairs, or getting into a car difficult.

Two healings from seeing God’s work more clearly

I entertained a mortal mind suggestion that came on suddenly and lasted for several months. I have no idea what it was. All I know is that for a number of weeks one side of my body was very painful, whether raising my arms, walking, sitting, or sleeping. A good bit of the time it kept me awake nights, since I couldn’t find a comfortable position either lying down or sitting up.

Lessons that a rip tide taught me about Life

I’m grateful for a recent learning experience that has really shifted my thought about the nature of Life.

This past March my family and I went to Puerto Rico for a short vacation. We were on a part of the island that is renowned for great surfing. The waves are pretty powerful, but we chose a beach that our guidebook described as gentle. There were surfers out in the bigger waves, but there were also some swimmers on a sandbar playing in the waves.

“I bounce!”

One afternoon as I was hurrying to catch a train, I tripped on some uneven pavement and fell flat. As I scrambled to my feet, a number of people with very worried expressions asked me if I were all right. With a big smile, I responded, “I’m fine! Thank you for your concern.”

Healing church by keeping the beam out of our own eyes

I’m grateful for progress this year. This is a healing about church.

I’ve come to understand that believing that I am right on a church issue and that others are wrong is a blindness to the truth that there is only one Mind. If I see error in someone else, if I believe others do not see the right way, I am accepting the error of many minds. This belief of self-righteousness and judging others often includes separation, retaliation, and intense emotions.
