Simba’s healing

Recently my husband and I experienced a wonderful healing of our beloved orange tabby cat.  Last April our cat began to have trouble walking on his back legs whereby he was walking flat-footed.  It quickly intensified to the point that he could barely walk up the stairs and when he would reach the top would immediately lay down on the floor.   He also began to struggle to jump up on the couch or the bed. Other symptoms like an insatiable desire for food and water were also appearing.  We knew there was a problem and could speculate what human error was the cause but we made a decision that we would not seek help from a veterinarian but instead from our family practitioner.  After all he is part of God’s perfect creation, too.

We talked with our practitioner about taking on our cat’s case and how we also could work to know the truth of his being.  One of the first truths the practitioner pointed out was from the textbook:  “All of God’s creatures, moving in the harmony of Science, are harmless, useful, indestructible.” (S&H 514:28-30)  As we pondered this thought and what it truly meant we were able to see that he wasn’t just our pet but he was God’s perfect creation that was equally cared for and no harm could come to him. His life could not be altered in any way.  Another powerful thought shared with us was, “Mind is the source of all movement, and there is no inertia to retard or check its perpetual and harmonious action.” (S&H 283:4-6)

As we worked to know these truths we began to see some improvement that would be more apparent on some days and less apparent on others.  The healing was not coming as quickly as we would have liked so whenever fear would come in we would talk with our practitioner to immediately handle it with Truth.  It is important to point out that several years prior my husband had demonstrated similar symptoms.  He was required at that time by the state to get semi-annual physicals for his job and the symptoms were diagnosed at that time as potential diabetes.  Based on this we did some brief online research and found the same diagnosis for cats.  This was the point we needed to be persistent with the truth even though the evidence before our material senses was trying to say we had a serious problem.  Our practitioner directed us to the statement: “No evidence before the material senses can close my eyes to the scientific proof that God, good, is supreme.” (Mis. 277:23-24)

During visits to our home our practitioner would spend time talking to our cat giving him treatments and shortly after every treatment we would notice an improvement not only in his movement but also in his eating and drinking, and his demeanor.  He would always come away from the treatment with calmness and a more loving nature as well as the physical improvement.

After six months of persistent work from both us and our practitioner our beloved tabby cat experienced a complete healing.  He began walking normally again and no longer had any trouble jumping up on things. But the best thing of all is that he is like a young cat again.  He looks young and his demeanor has become so much more peaceful and loving than even what was previously experienced.  It was wonderful to see that we could trust in Christian Science for our animal just as much as we trust in it for us.  Hymn 139 describes this healing best: “I walk with Love along the way, And O, it is a holy day;”
