Belief of hereditary high blood pressure overcome

One day I was feeling a lot of pressure in my neck. The belief of hereditary high blood pressure was imposing itself, even though I had not been diagnosed.

Since it was apparent to me that fear needed to be overcome, I contacted a practitioner for support. The practitioner reminded me, “Look away from the symptoms and live so purely with the consciousness of spiritual truths that the symptoms, no longer pressing to be thought about, disappear.”

I looked up references about looking away from the body and found the following statement to be most helpful: “Look away from the body into Truth and Love, the Principle of all happiness, harmony, and immortality. Hold thought steadfastly to the enduring, the good, and the true, and you will bring these into your experience proportionably to their occupancy of your thoughts” (Science and Health 261:2–7).

By the next morning, the pressure was completely gone.

For several months I felt no symptoms, but recently they tried to return. This time I was able to overcome them on my own. I found this verse from Hymn 519 in the Christian Science Hymnal: “So lean, and let, and love; This is the balanced Way. / It’s free from self-will, pressure, stress; It welcomes in God’s day.” This verse instantly set me free from fear and the burden of feeling that I had to do the work. I was leaning on God, letting his perfect Love cast out all fear, and allowing that Love to come in where fear and pressure had seemed to be.
